Lerwick Sewing Socials Autumn 2025

£12.00

More of a club than a class - the Lerwick Sewing Social is a chance to get together with other makers and work on your own project, with help from an expert teacher if you need it. A lovely opportunity to share knowledge, skills and inspiration.

What’s included:

  • Access to a Singer Heavy Duty 4423 Sewing Machine

  • Access to an iron and ironing board

  • Lots of space! We only take bookings for half the capacity of the room - this means everyone has plenty of space to pin, cut and sew, which we know can be a struggle at home.

  • Support from an experienced teacher, if needed

  • Tea/Coffee and a sweet treat

What to bring:

  • Your own sewing project - fabric or work-in-progress, pattern, thread, notions.

  • Basic sewing kit - measuring tools, cutting tools, marking tools, pins or pattern weights, un-picker… and whatever else you might need!

  • OPTIONAL: Sewing machine (we have sewing machines available, but if you’d rather use your own, feel free!)

Location: Radio Room, Islesburgh Centre, Lerwick. The Radio Room is lift accessible.

When: Monday evenings (Term time), 7pm - 9:30pm. We are currently taking bookings from late August until December 2025. We’ll take a break for Half Term and Wool Week. Sessions are booked individually - there’s no expectation for how often you attend. Come as often as you like, but remember that spaces are limited to advance booking is essential.
