Taster Class - Get to know a Sewing Machine

£30.00

Where and When

Radio Room, Islesburgh Centre, Lerwick.

Tuesday 26th August, 7:00pm - 9:30pm.

About the Class

Look - like many things, sewing machines can seem intimidating. They’re sensitive to touch, they need to be set up and operated in a specific way and, if you get it wrong, you can end up with a stab to the finger (or, worse, a bodged project!). Lots of folks are scared of sewing machines. I get it.

Sound familiar? Then this is the class for you.

This introductory class will take you through all the basics, from threading up to pedal control and changing stitches.

To keep things clear and simple you’ll learn on a Singer Heavy Duty 4423, but you’re welcome to bring your own machine along if you’d like to see how they compare. The good news is that all sewing machines work in much the same way - just like cars, there are variations according to make and model, but the basic set up and operations are always the same. The Singer Heavy Duty 4423 is simple and beginner-friendly, and you’ll leave with a bundle of samples and a new sense of confidence.
