Technical Tuesday: BUTTONHOLES
Where and When
Radio Room, Islesburgh Centre, Lerwick.
Tuesday 13th January, 7pm - 9:30pm.
About the Class
Buttonholes - often the final step in a garment, and literally front and centre! Sew them well and they’ll be hardly noticed. But sew them badly, and you risk gaping, fraying and even distortion to the garment. A good buttonhole is well worth the effort!
For the second of our Technical Tuesdays, we’ll take a deep dive into the making of beautiful buttonholes so you never have to fear them again! We’ll look at how to size your buttonhole, reinforce the fabric and transfer pattern markings before making two types of buttonhole samples. You’ll leave with a small collection of samples and newfound confidence.
This is a short and detailed class, and participants are expected to have some basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine. If you’d like to improve your sewing machine knowledge to prepare for this class, you may like to attend a Get to Know a Sewing Machine class before you come.
